Metrology Services

Metrology Department

Understanding the fundamentals of measurement is requisite for producing parts to consistent levels of precision. We are constantly training staff on how to perform measurements. And we cross train on multiple methods to inspect each feature, helping to ensure the values we report are valid. Frequently we add new equipment and references to help us make our inspection process efficient and repeatable.

Employees follow a series of training exercises to ensure they are proficient in inspecting typical features found on parts we produce. They also are trained in the concepts of GD&T, to make sure they are interpreting blueprint drawing tolerances appropriately.

Gage Pins Assortment
Optical Comparator

Our core references of dimension and form are regularly inspected by an independent and accredited calibration lab. We use these references to perform periodic in-house calibrations of our various metrology tools and serving as gages while inspecting our tightest tolerance parts.

We have the ability to design and build custom gages for our internal use or to solve customers’ in-house inspection problems. As well as having these gages certified by an outside lab if needed.

Large Digital Calipers

Measurement capacities up to 40″ using our Mitutoyo Digital Calipers.

Toolmakers Microscope

We can measure minute details with precision using our measuring microscope.

Precision Sine Bar

Our 10″ C. E. Johansson Sine Bar allows us to inspect angles with precision.

Calibration Gage Blocks

All of our metrology instruments are regularly calibrated against this precision set of Starrett Croblox Gage Blocks.

Inspection Gage Blocks

Our full set of Starrett Croblox Gage Blocks used for parts inspection is regularly recertified by an independent calibration lab.

Thread Pitch Diameter Micrometers

We have invested in multiple methods to inspect machined threads, including our set of Pitch Diameter Micrometers.
